Traders must have GST-compliant system by end
						April, says Customs – Bernama
Traders are given until April 30 to configure their
point-of-sales (POS) system to issue printed invoices in
compliance with the goods and services tax (GST)
						standard.

 Customs Department GST division
director Datuk T. Subromaniam said the issuance of
handwritten invoices was not allowed except when the
						system is down.

Since GST was implemented on April 1, retailers and
restaurants have reasoned that their GST-compliant cash
registers and POS system had not arrived or had not been
						set up, he said.

"April 30 is the deadline. We do not want traders to
write on paper. We have received many complaints, and
						Customs will not allow this."

allowed to issue handwritten invoices except pre-printed
						invoices.
He said pre-printed invoices must be printed with tax
invoice, GST ID number, GST amount and others.

From April 1 to 5, a total of 1,617 complaints on GST
were received by Customs, whereby out of top
non-compliance, 40% was related to tax invoices issued
by registered traders, he added. – Bernama, April 6,
